Embracing Unshakable Confidence

The difference between Confidence in your Abilities vs. Confidence in Yourself as a Woman in Leadership

🎙️ This blog post is part of our podcast show notes collection with the Unleash Your Potential Podcast on Spotify and Apple.

In episode 45, I am thrilled to dive into the crucial topic of self-confidence - an absolutely vital quality for women in leadership.

Let’s start by defining confidence.

There are two types of confidence we’ll discuss today.

The first being confidence in our ability to do something, and the second being confidence in oneself - a deeper, foundational aspect that transcends specific skills or roles. As we grow up, we often develop confidence in our abilities through practice, education, and experience. However, when it comes to being a confident leader, it's not just about mastering skills, but also about having a deep-rooted trust and belief in oneself.

I’ve had the privilege of working with numerous women in leadership roles and have observed that many struggle with the latter type of confidence - confidence in themselves despite the crazy amount of skills, knowledge, and experience they have.  This is what we commonly refer to as imposter syndrome, and it stems from a deeper need for self-confidence and self-trust.

To be a truly confident leader, it’s imperative to foster a deep understanding of oneself. This includes acknowledging one’s strengths and weaknesses, being self-aware, and having the courage to seek guidance when needed. It’s not about projecting a facade of perfection, but about embracing and owning our authentic selves.

I want to impart upon you the importance of delving into your own self-discovery journey. Building unshakable self-confidence requires not only honing your professional skills, but also tapping into a deep well of self-love, self-awareness, and self-trust. This journey may not be easy, but the rewards are immeasurable and will positively impact every aspect of your life.

Confidence is not about being a know-it-all or an expert, but about trusting and believing in yourself at a profound level. It’s about showing up with integrity and the willingness to learn and grow continuously. By investing in your own self-confidence, you'll not only empower your own leadership journey but also inspire and uplift those around you.

I’m passionate about guiding and supporting women in their pursuit of unshakable self-confidence and leadership. It’s a journey I’m deeply familiar with, and one that I believe every ambitious woman should embark upon. Remember, the effort you put into nurturing your confidence will never be in vain. It’s an investment that will yield bountiful returns, both personally and professionally.

Thank you for tuning in and engaging with this powerful discussion. I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences on this topic. Let's continue this conversation and empower each other on our leadership journeys.
